Let me start at the beginning. At work when the battery went bad. Had somebaody jump start my 2005 ultra classic. After it started I took jumper cables off and it stalled. Could not get started again. Checked fuses and the bat. and radio mem. fuses were blown. Went to change them and as soon as I tried to put a fuse in either one the fuse would blow. Towed home. Took off seat and front fairing to start unplugging wires the see where the short is. When I unplugged the radio I could finally put a fuse in both the bat and radio mem. spots. Plug the radio back in and pop they go. So after 2 days of checking all wires in the harnesses I decided to plug radio back in an run a jumper wire in the fuse box to see where the short was. I heard a click noise up front by the radio somewhere and now I have no short. NOW, when I turn the ign. switch on I have no lights to the speedometer or tach. I have all my turn signals, brake lights, and all lights in my other gauges. I have checked all the wires in that area again and I can't find anything. So, I decided to try and start it. Turns over fine but not getting any power to the coil. Checked the system relay and there is no ground coming from the ECM to give the relay power. I put ground to the relay just to make sure it works and it does. I can not check any DTC codes because I have no lights in my speedometer. So what do you think? Any ideas? And yes this is my first post. Thanks.

If I understand this right, you narrowed the short down to the radio, then jumpered(bypassed) the fuse and plugged the radio back in?
I would guess bypassing the circuit protection you blew the next weakest link in the wiring, somewhere in the harness.
There is a few pieces missing for me to start. What is your battery condition now and how did you get it to this condition? Are you sure you put jumper cable on correctly when you jumped it and were did you hook them? One thing is I think is your power wire to the relay in your dash that you heard click has gone to ground. However I am really guessing right now since you appear to have more then one problem.
battery condition now is new. Yes I always double check the leads before I jump start any vehicle. I hooked them to the old dead battery when I jump started it. The problem I'm having now is I have power on all the (power) wires that lead up to the radio and speedometer/tach.
After I jumpered the wire over and heard the click noise I was able to put the fuses back in and I have power on all the wires. But the radio and speedometer and tach will not show any lights or anything.
Still checking wire harnesses. Thanks for the link to the other post. I will check some of those things to. Working 12 hour days right now so not getting a lot of diagnosing time. Will update when problem is resolved.
