Default Brake Light Glitch

I have a 2013 Ultra Classic. I found out tonight that when I turn the fob on, instead of running lights in the rear, the brakes lights are on. I'm not really sure how long this has been going on either. Last summer I put some 12" Yaffes on, but I remember checking everything back then and it was ok. The other night I installed some different grips from HD so I'm wondering if that was it?

It seems to be something in the front brake lever. when I turn the fob on I have brake lights on, but if I press the front brake lever to the front the brake lights go to running lights, but when I let go the brake lights come back on like I was applying the front brakes. I can press the front brake lever forward and make the brake lights go off and press the rear brake pedal and it works like normal.

This makes me think the issue is isolated to the front brake lever, but I don't have any clue as to what's making it do that. Is there a switch in the front brake lever that could be shorting out?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

"Do not remove or install the master cylinder assembly without first positioning a 5/32-inch (4 mm) thick insert between the brake lever and lever bracket. Removing or installing the master cylinder assembly without the insert in place may result in damage to the rubber boot and plunger on the front stoplight switch"

Did you do that?

I didn't know anything about a spacer. Where is the front stoplight switch? Is in inside the master cylinder assy?

The switch is under the brake lever.

Squeeze the lever and look under it, you should be able to see the little boot that is over the tip of the switch.

BTW, that quote is from instructions on replacing HD grips.

Thanks so much. I'll bet that is it.
