just changed out my rear brake arm on my 2016 Street Glide Special.
now the brake lights are stuck on.....they said be careful moving master cylinder or damage
anyone know what the damage could be....sending unit?
The Master Cylinder has a piston that is held out by a spring. When you apply the brake, the lever it pushes in the piston, activating the Brake Light Switch. When you release the Brake Lever the piston gets pushed back out by the spring deactivating the Brake Light Switch.
There could be several issues:
The new lever is heavier than the old one, not meant for your bike, or improperly installed.
The Piston/Sleeve is dried out (Lubricate with Brake Fluid).
The Spring is worn or damaged. (Buy a rebuild kit)
The Brake Light Switch is damaged or the wires are disconnected or damaged. (
