Default Headlight problem- need help

I own a 1998 roadking police model. Here lately the headlight is not working and the Hi bean indicator is lit up in the dash panel.
ALSO. the hi beam/low beam switch don't work.
These issues are intermittent ....might be fine the next time I ride it.

Anyone have a idea as to where I might start trying to figure this one out?

thanks ahead.

How do you know the Hi/Low switch is not working?

What have you done so far to find the problem?

I'm saying there is no change in the headlight if I toggle the switch .

check the bulb end first since it is the easiest. look for loose/burned terminations and then use test light or meter to check circuit operation. if circuit does not function correctly, before getting to bar switch, check fusing and terminations, if good, proceed to bar switch.

Might be nice to figure out why it melted.

If the headlamp connector is a loose fit it will cook itself.

Fair enough, but I'd like to determine that.
