I just purchased a 2004 Road King Classic. Paper work indicated a security system was installed when purchased originally. I did not receive a key fob and the bike starts normally. The red key light comes on temporarily until bike starts and then goes off. How can I determine if the system is still on board. I had a key fob from from a 2003 Heritage that I owned previously but could not get anything to happen when I tried to activate it.
Ok I do have the security module TSSM installed. looking at the fuse panel and cannot locate a fuse for the security system. The owners manual does not identify it either. What is P&A fuse for? The top right fuse panel cover has melted and could not read what was once there. I have 8 fuses installed and all are good which is what the owners manual shows. I may need to purchase a key fob. From what I have read I should be able to manually activate the system but that failed also.

If it was me (and it's what I did) I'd get a TSM off Ebay or Boardtracker HD, switch them out and call it good. On the early button systems you don't need the dealer for anything; the bike will start right up.
Going from the TSSM to the TSM will require the password relearn proceedure described in one of the stickies or in your FSM, without any FOB I don't think there is a way to program a new FOB so if you want the secutity system you will need to replace the TSSM and do the password learn proceedure. If I am not mistaken the P&A fuse is for accessories, but without looking at the wiring diagrams I cannot say definitively.

It absolutely did not involve anything other than disconnecting the power from the battery, letting it sit a night, then unplugging the TSSM, installing the TSM and reconnecting the battery on my 2002 which is the same system. That's why I said it didn't.
The procedure does need to be followed for the hands free systems or the dealer can take care of it with DTII. You're right about the P&A fuse.
Thanks for all your inputs. I retraced my steps and was able to activate the security system using the FOB I had from previous vehicle. Seems if you skip a step in the OWNERS MANUAL procedure it doesn't work..Imagine that..Thanks for your help. Posted pictures of my bikes in the gallery'
