Default Battery

Looks like I might have to replace my battery again on my 2017 Wide Glide. Already replaced it once with the stock harley battery. What battery do you all recommend or should I buy another harley battery?

I've been very happy with my Duracell Ultra from Batteries Plus. Was not cheap but full 2 year warranty & can return locally if there's a problem. Some like the cheaper online batteries but I'd rather have somewhere nearby to replace quickly if needed.

I'm still on my original battery in my 2017 street glide. I keep it on a trickle charger 24/7. Started it yesterday for the first time since December and it fired right up.

I replace my barrery(s) every third year on our road bikes.
I keep all of my batteries on a battery tender (different that a trickle charger) when nit in daily use.

I get mine from Battery-Mart, delivered right to my front door.

They usually have a sale price in early spring and the last time I ordered the Odyessy batteires for two of our Softials.
They smaller than the OEM size so you may have to order the special connect terminals and I had to place a piece of tri-cardboard in the battery box to raise the batteries up a bit but they seem to be hold up well.

I've considered trying the Sam's Club "Duracell" battery as they are just about everywhere if you have a battery to go bad.
I may check out their prices and warranty the next time I'm there.

Deka makes HD batteries. You can find a battery exactly the same as the HD one on Batterymart.com About $50 less than OEM shipped to your door

A battery post can be like an oil post... everyone has one they love/hate, and can afford/not afford.

For me:
I got 4.5 yrs on my original battery... on a tender through winters and extended time away. (it might have been fine for longer, but I will ride in below freezing temps if roads are clear, so it wouldn't crank it over then)
Was going to get a lithium from Batteries Plus (that fit in the cavity) last spring, but it was out of stock, and I knew riding weather was upon us. So I went to the Dealership and bought the HD Lithium that has an adapter box to fit it in (no shimming with cardboard or foam).
One year in, I like it. When cold, it makes you pucker as it first wakes up to crank it over, but starts fine.

Good Luck

I have read this in a lot of posts, but how do we know they are "exactly" the same?

Just because they come from the same manufacturer does not mean they are exactly the same.

The batteries from batterymart are not "exactly" the same, if they were you wouldn`t need the spacers at the terminals.

I don`t have x ray vision so I have no idea if the insides are the same.

Maybe I shouldn't have said exactly; you are correct that I don't really know. What I really meant, was that the CCA is the same and it fits perfectly. I have never had to use spacers on batteries I bought from Batterymart so I don't know about that. I do know that when my dealership gets Harley batteries, they are delivered on a Deka truck.
