Default Cruise Control Failure

Hello. The cruise control went out on my 2020 FLHR. When I push the button to activate the icon appears in the speedo window, when I push down to engage the cruise it won't stay engaged. I hope it's just a switch, I don't want to have to go to the dealer for repair. TIA

Bike running, EITMS screen on the display, roll the throttle forward, does it turn off the EITMS? Yes, roll switch good, No = bad roll switch.

Any of the above can stop cruise from engaging.

This is a good start. Check your brake light switches for sure.

Default Cruise

I removed the tail light housing the bulb seemed intact, no movement or signs of wiring problems. My wingman had said that the taillight was erratic going bright & dim while we were riding the other day.
After checking the light I went out and engaged the cruise 70-75 mph it lasted for 5-7 seconds and disengageged. I tried again 45-50 mph and it stayed on till I manually killed it. 🤔

The brake light switches are activated the brake levers and have nothing to do with the tail light bulb and aren't close to it.

Troubleshooting is fault isolation by systematic means.

Default So…

Hello. I have read in this very forum that a loose tail light bulb could contribute to cruise control failure. So you're saying this could be a brake switch? I guess I'll start researching from that point as far has how to check them. IDK if I mentioned that at highway speeds the cc wouldn't stay engaged below 50-60 it works fine.

Have you done the self diagnostic procedure? See video below, should be the same for all models.
