3 Cam choices - Woods 777 Fueling 574 or S&S 585
#21
I orignally planned to do the cam first and deal with the lack in performance the cams are capable of (but at least have more jam that stock) then progress to the big bore while getting a set of 103 heads done the following season... after talking about it, I think I will just do it over the winter all at once, if I can swing the bucks for it. Keep reminding myself I need a new tuner too.
Buzz kill. lol I like hearing trials and thoughts to help spark my mind, that why I asked for opinions. But I will give both Kirby and Scott a call. I like the idea of the nikasil cylinders.
Very good advice. Eliminate the cross talk, hearsay and uncertainty by calling Scott and Kirby, tell them the results you want, pick one to work with and move on. Why listen to me or any other forum members that have built a few of these motors when we have forum sponsors like Scott or Kirby that have built hundreds and can put together a plan that will deliver the desired results. All you need is time and money.

IIRC neither Scott or Kirby are nikasil fans; neither am I. If you want opinions (you know what they say about opinions) you came to the right place.

Haha very true. I did speak so far with Fuel Moto and they also have no issues and like running their cast iron setup. I know that Nikasil in the application of dirt bikes is great as it allows the aluminum cylinder to dissipate heat better than having a cast iron sleeve. Not sure how it plays out in an air cooled application in comparison, or with bigger bores. The one concern I would have is issues potentially with getting the piston rings seated properly. Don't want to end up with an oil sucking pig.

A 107" with a set of S&S .585's has the ability to show great power, set up correctly.
Fellow forum member Target64's 107" is living proof.
We have a video clip of that fast-reving bike on our site.
He pounds 120R's with that 107" just for fun, as he has told us.

FYI: I put these in my 96" RoadKing and the torque curve is pretty much flat across the board @87.
I happened to have a ride uploaded from the RPMitUp App on my phone from before:
