Can I run a TW9 woods cam with a 580 lift in a stock 88" motor 06 night train !!! I have been looking and can't find any info saying yes or no I'm going crazy looking!!!!!! thanks
Yes I no the tw6 that woods makes will work but haven't Hurd any body talk bout it number wise if you have it in your bike either one of these wonderful cams your info is Welcome !! I'm going crazy looking and all the Harley shops wanna sell me screaming eagle cams witch are good but if Hurd woods and Andrews are better!!!
Yes, you are able to run any cam designed for the Harley Twin Cam motor that is on the market. However, the results depend on your overall motor specifications.
Since I was not very clear in the Softail forum when you asked the same question, read the following link.
You can run a .580" lift cam in a TC88 from '05 and up but not earlier models; cam lift is limited to .510" by the early springs. The beehive springs introduced in the'05 model year will accommodate .580" lift.
You would be nuts to run a Woods 9 cam in a stock TC88; that will lower your compression and the TC88 heads are a bottleneck and don't flow well enough to take advantage of any higher lift cam. Best choice, IMHO for a stock TC88 is the S&S 509.
I'm not so sure you can use the 9. Besides it being a horrible choice for a small motor and low compression, they are listed for use with 2007 and up softails only. Check the site.

The 9 grind is for any size motor and is a very aggressive cam that requires at least 10.5:1 comp and really should have stage II heads at the minimum. Works great in Evo's just ask D_gyver......
