I have an '88 1200 XLH. It's not happy when at a constant speed below 50 sort of like stammering, not bad, just sort of hesitant. Runs well under even a little throttle but coughs a little on shut down. Any ideas of the most likely cause?
TIA
John
I don' think I'm "lugging" it NinL it's not a clean run at higher revs :-(
Not sure if it's running too lean 98 it needs choke to start but doesn't like it left out for more than 5 secs. I did wonder whether it might be too rich? All advice welcome though and I will probably have a better look at the weekend, after all, that's one of the reasons for them :-D
Is it worse cold or hot? If you're thinking fuel, if cold it's lean, if hot it's rich. Pull out the enricher just slightly and see if it gets better or worse.
It's worse cold Ed, but it's still there when hot :-( It's not a bad "stammer" it's more annoying and worrying on close in maneuvering :-o
Thanks 98, useful to know!
John
If the bike came from a different part of the country such as Denver or other high altitudes vs Louisiana at sea level your jets will definitely be out of whack somewhat
