Default Engine Noise Flowchart

Man, how helpful would it be if one of you super smart, highly experienced professional wrenches would put together a flowchart on diagnosing engine noises? Something like

Occurs when Cold? Y/N
Occurs when hot? Y/N
Occurs at low RPM?
Occurs under load?
Noise increases at same rate as RPMS?
Noise is a quiet tick?
... a loud clack?

And so on, with probable causes being at the end of the flow.

Of course, if the MoCo did this, the solution would be "That's normal, dont worry about it"

Just sayin'

Good one Matt. I'm finally glad to be rid of a cold start tappet. Johnson lifter 17000 miles changed back to S&S . Runs smooth on start up again.

Most people don't know their clicks from their clacks or their bangs from their clangs. And don't get me going about judders.

Spudder- The part of a cow just short of the udder...spudder!
Judder- The part of the cow just after the udder!

The one that always gets me is, "it will crank but it won't turn over".
