Default Cams

Is there one manufacturer who absolutely makes cam better than all the other manufacturers? If so, who is it? Just doing research about building up my 96 to 107 when i can afford it. Thanks for all helpful info.

Nope. No real magic cams. There will be cams better suited for a build, but that's usually about it.

Good companies are: Woods, Andrews, Cycle-Rama, S&S, and many more.

No. But you can search this forum for opinions on cams. The easiest way to search is to google it and then see all the related posts in this forum. Like this: https://www.google.com/search?q=cams...=1579200329680

T-Man (TR Reiser) has been in the HD performance business for more than 20 years. Go visit his website to see what he does. I have run two of T-Mans cams in one of my bikes but there are plenty of other cams to choose from, like S&S, Cyclerama, Andrews, Zippers, Woods, Fueling, etc. If you are planning to build a motor, get the plan together, examine your riding style to determine where you want to power band and build the motor around a cam that will deliver the power where you want it.

V-Thunder cams are a little easier on the valve train than Woods but Woods make better power and are ground by Andrews.. as said no real magic. How much power and where in the RPM range do you want it.. Most builders can develope a plan for you..

Terry, cams are only part of the build. We have HDF sponsors in here who can advise on a complete tuning package, including cams, to suit your pocket and performance needs. I believe Hillside are experts in using Woods cams, for example....

Fuel Moto tested a decent amount of cams. Checkout their FB page.

I run a T-MAN 660-1 cam and custom tune on my 2008 Streetglide with a hi compression 113".

Very happy with around town driving and extremely happy with WOT power.

Here is the dyno from 2008 / 2009ish time frame.
