Default Occasion hard start.

2010 Fat Bob FXDF

No codes.

Fresh plugs and wires.

There's two videos there. Not sure which will work.

Bike sometimes fires right up. Other times it just spins. I think the starter is engaged? Definitely feels like there's drag of it turning something. You can also smell the fuel after a few crank and it not firing. Now and then you'll get a terrible scratching sound- sounds like metal on metal grinding.

CPS perhaps? Not firing when its supposed to?

Battery is less than a month old. If not ridden in a few days, its on a tender.

I'll check the terminals though.

If battery wires up direct, the USB port is dragging down the battery. Check the voltage across the battery. Charge it up..

The way your motor turns over sounds like the battery is weak. Bet cranking voltage is below 10 volts.

yea, I'm chatting with a few folks on this now. I never would have guessed battery.

USB is wired direct with fuse. Nothing plugged in though. All my other bikes are wired the same without issue.

I am running this in there now: https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/PSBE...pressionRank=1

Though, I've had **** luck with NAPA batteries the past year so it wouldn't surprise me.

I guess I'm in need of 500CCA?

Harley shows this as a direct replacement:
https://www.harley-davidson.com/us/e...ery/p/66000343

But what sticks out to me is:

Question:
6/22/2022
What are the specs on this battery? What is the CCA, AH, and RC on this battery?
Russell - Baton Rouge, La

Well it's an east penn battery.. Same as HD. Bet your other bikes are baggers with a 30 AH battery..

There is likely a power supply in the usb converter that drops battery voltage to 5v.. It likely draws a few ma without anything plugged in..

My others bikes are 650s.

DR and a GSX, heh. I don't think I've even swapped either of those batteries out at any time I've owned them.

I yanked the battery. I'm going to take it to NAPA tomorrow and have them drop test it. see what it comes out to.
