baffles require mod?

I ride '07 Fatboy with Vance and Hines pipes. I got baffles for Mother's day. Do I need to let a dealer/mechanic install? Are mods required? I just wanted a little quieter ride, especially for the long hauls. Is this a do it yourself project?
