Hey fellas. I've got a 98 dyna low and I think I'm having the same problem. A loud tick comes and goes at random. Sounds like it's coming from the top of the forward cylinder. It's only got 3800 miles on it but it obviously sat for a while before I got it. I just did the 5k service on it (bc I had no records) and everything looked great. I'm wondering if you know if these evos can have the same issue? Any help would be great.
A service bulletin came down from the Moco saying to "inspect or replace" the lifters @ 25,000 miles on those Evo's.
Don't ignore a noise from that area, as if the roller sheds the needle bearings, it can turn into a hailstorm in that camchest.

Question since I know all 4 pushrods are turned exactly 20 flats can I just loosen the jam nut and turn them all 7 more flats to make it 4.5 turns total or do I have to back them all off and start over?

Just add 7 flats.
Update added the 7 flats still have some clatter but no ways near as bad will order the lifters next, at least it dont worry me as much to ride it now. Thanks for all the help.
