Default Common modification

Some pics of a bike I did back in 96.
Somebody here said louvering a fender was cool but not an original idea.
Ive never seen another bike done this way sinc, common as it is and such.
We didnt have a whole lot of bolt on **** back then, so we made due with a welder and a paint gun.Now I can just go to the dealership and buy cool ****, like 30" wheels and stretched bags, and blend in with everybody.

Was that "somebody" in the Touring section? Just curious. There aren't a whole lot of "original" ideas when it comes to modifying bikes or cars. After a hundred years, someone somewhere has done it. How did you do the louvers? I need to do some to a hood.

I think your bike looks good. Way Back in '96, when my bike was only 10 years old and the twinkie wasn't invented yet, I had to ride uphill to and from work, (medical school, actually) at 3 in the morning in the dark at 103 degrees F (because Texas) while wearing a white coat that I couldn't get Harley grease all over and....

No, it was here, in redoing my mule thread.
The louvers; I had a guy had a louver press. I called him up and said gimme a 4 x 50" long strip of metal pounder with as 2" wide louvers as you can fit. I made a fixture to hold the shape of the fender, and cut it front to back taking 4" out of the center. I think I left a little material at both ends so it didn't spring away from me. I bent the strip and clamped it up and welded it in.
Back then we couldn't just buy cool ****, we had to make it.
It also had the steel filler panels between the bags and fender, where I frenched or tunneled the radio anntenae, also sunk in the license mount. Lowered front and back the hard way.

Careful Doc. That was me. All I did was to point out that he was not as original as he thought and he got all butt-hurt.

Take an obround punch and die correct L&W for desired louver, should have 10% of the punched material thickness for die clearance, grind the back and edges of the die to shape the louver leaving front edge sharp for shear. Mount in the press of your choice and setup proper back and end stops and proceede to punch......
Ohh You werent serious....
