I actually was just telling him the popularity of the dyna line up as opposed to the rest of the HD lineup and didn't mention anything about his bike being a dyna. Only that it is a "Wide glide".
He thought a wide glide was less desirable somehow and I showed him the popularity line up on the dyna line and the whole HD line up as lots of folks around here see them. Nothing else. I've never seen anyone complain about pre-dyna wide glides being undesirable until his post btw.
I think an evo dyna is a great buy as they go for nothing around Ustoned. Seen 'em as low as 4500 with no miles on them at all. They're just not popular enough to hold any value it seems..
My guess is it's not the "Road King" like it used to be.. Pity.

BTW, I got my answer, most don't like 21"rail,instability, solid motor mounts,4 speed kickers when they are pushing the fives. I'm always with the minority because I think it's great.
My muscle car of choice,AMC AMX what, really? Yup.
I'm €¥£~§¿ed up like that.

I'm not sure that sales were low, but production was low because the Wide Glide was discontinued in 1986. I guess it made no sense to have 2 models that were nearly identical (FXWG and FXST). Other than the rear section (swing arm etc) in 1985 the 2 were very nearly the same. I chose the FXWG at the time because I wanted the rear belt of the FXWG and not the chain of the FXST. The 86 FXWG was unchanged, other than paint options, and was probably only made to use up existing parts inventory before the model was discontinued entirely. It was the last ever factory kick start. Meanwhile, the 1986 FXST went to a 5 speed trans (no more kicker) and rear belt.
I have a set of OEM tanks and fenders that I custom ordered from the factory thru their custom paint program in about 1987. At the time you could pick from a wide array of colors, including base coat color (different base colors can make the top coat color look completely different), with or with out pinstipes (single/dual/dual two-tone stripes) and choice of an array of tank logos. I used the set for a couple of years and have had the complete set boxed up for many years. Still in great condition.
Was not aware of that, dyna wg all come flamed don't they?
That I did know,85-86 is a two year frame also, found that out searching for a seat that nobody makes anymore , bought a mustang seat that fits 58---84 and had to reverse the front mounting from male on the seat to female because the frame is male. Wasn't that hard and fits perfect.
