which regulator
i have a 1990 fxstc softail. which regulator would i need. i see them that are 22 amp and i see them that are 32 amp.

I had to replace mine about 5 years ago, went with the 22 amp. I believe the 32 amp is for touring bikes.

correct,but you can put a 32 on it which will allow you to add more electrical options to it.

ok so a bike like mine, no stereo or extra running lights would be fine with a 22 amp.

HD went to a 32 amp alternator in 1989. Your bike needs the 32 amp regulator. The plugs are different on the 22 and 32, and they aren't interchangable. Get a 32 amp regulator.
How do you know your regulator is bad, and not your alternator?
