Need some Batwing help
1990 EG.
Got a new shorter windscreen. Went to put it on, and discovered that the stocker is held on by more than just the five bolts on top.
Looks like I have to pull the fairing apart. My service manual hasn't arrived yet.
Can someone point me in the general direction I need to go here?

Those early batwings require good Buddhist patience. If you pull the forks the fun just gets better.

Once you get that original shield out all the aftermarket shield are only the 5 hole design on our models. Those dog ears on each end underneath are a pain. Luckily on mine tho when I removed the stocker they were already broke off, LOL. Now they are just empty holes. It's a piece of cake if you want to swap shield from here on out.
Just a little tid bit from my experience. I have been adding adhesive back foam strips to the front of each shield when installing them. There can be a fairly big gap between bolt holes on the front of the fairing. To me that seems it would let water in when its raining. Haven't ever had an issue yet with the electronics inside. Maybe that's why, can't really say? Just something to watch for. The oem shield that came out did have some from the factory as well.
