Default 98 Ultra Classic

Just picked up a 98 UC 95th anniversary with 37000 on the clock. This is my third HD (77 iron head and an 02 Duece) but my first evo. It has had stage 2 done to it and is a very clean well maintained scooter. I have been riding a Yamaha Roadstar 1700 for the last 4 years but I just always wanted an EVO. I hope you guys can give me some insight into things I should look for right off the bat that may need to be addressed. I am not afraid to turn wrenches and Im looking forward to tinkering with this sucker. Thanks in advance for any and all info.

It is a very reliable scoot and you will gets lots of miles out of it. Regular maintenance using the service manual will keep her on the road for a long time.

Was the stage 2 done using a newer cam/ ignition or do you know?

My friend here has one and we did SE heads and a different cam in it and it made lots of difference. Then we added in a 113" S&S motor and that really helped a bunch.

I'm picking up an evo tonight. First thing I plan on is changing all three fluids so I know it's good an when it will need changed again.

My plan is to make sure the routine maint things are good then ride for a while to see if anything needs attention. I may pick up a set of plugs to run for a while so I can read them in a few hundred miles to "check the tune" of the carb.

Sounds like a good purchase! Is it that gorgeous maroon and gold paintwork - my favourite? Tips? If the PO had it for several years I hope he passed on his service paperwork too, otherwise as langwilliams suggests, replace all fluids, check the dates on the tyres and replace if more than say 5 years old, then ride and enjoy!

Yes the guy was very diligent about keeping up with all of the maintenance and paperwork. He just had all of the fluids changed last week so I should be good for a month or so. :-)
