exhaust question
tex I read some guys claim to have picked up 10-15 HP ditching the V&H short shots an going to a 2 into 1....It was a google search an different forums came up. I had a set of twisted sisters on my 94 softail that were cool as he!! looking an sounding but it didn't feel like the bike pulled off the line. When I had my shovel guys said to go with I think it was 40" drag pipes to get good performance out of a drag pipe....I guess that got me thinking short exhaust hurts performance, like my 5.0 most guys swear long tube headers out perform shorties.

Here is why I recommended Big City Thunder.
I bought my bike in eBay, flew to Atlanta and rode it home to Lafayette Louisiana.
The bike was pretty much bone stock and the rivets were still on the timing cover. It was loud and harsh sounding and was very disappointing on the bottom end, and top end wasn't great either. The exhaust looked stock though, complete with the crossover pipe.
When I got home I figured out that it was in fact the stock exhaust system, but there were no baffles at all, and must have been knocked out by the previous owner.
I called Big City Thunder and told them what I had and shortly after a set of lollipops showed up along with a free t-shirt.
I opened the box up and was disappointed at what I saw as I was expecting something different. Since I had them I figured might as well install them.
I was baffled. My bike had deep throaty sound, and no longer had the harsh rasp. In a way it was quieter, but it was more of a change in tone. Also, I now had a bottom end and overall performance was a lot better.
A few years later, I decided I wanted more power and was chasing down a bit of buzziness I didn't like. I milked the heads, changed cam, etc.
I kept my exhaust the same. They sounded and worked so well there was no need to change.
With the engine work, my bike sounds even better, and makes excellent streetable horsepower and torque, without having to go to a high dollar exhaust.
It is for this reason I think the people at Big City Thunder can help you if you give them a call.

Very true! In my experience, with true duals and a 2-into-1, both dyno tuned on the same bike, they give similar headline figures, the significant difference is that the 2-into-1 gives much better torque in the low/mid rev range, where most of us normally ride. In addition my bike is far smoother running and just a whole lot nicer to ride, with my Supermeg.
Google "torque cone dyno test" and read test after test that shows they do not work. "Lollipops" do work...and are just as cheap and easier to install. Big city thunder baffles are just ready made lollipops.

Dyno Huh? I don't dispute that a Dyne can help with some tuning problems.
Stop and Think how a Dyno Works...Roll on and Shift and start over on and off throttle???? Nope...WFO! Only WFO, or Off...sound a bit like the Drag Strip??? Oddly so...
I don't ride like that...except on the drag strip.
I will continue to set-up My Bike for My Ridding Style, and Base my decisions about Carb/Exhaust/Ignition etc...on My Riding Style, and a Modulated throttle setting. Next time you are cruising at 70MPH check your Throttle Setting. Less than 1/2? Prolly less than 1/4.. Now...Roll-On I want my bike to act the same in a Roll on as is experienced in a relatively high speed roll -on..Smooth, uninterrupted, no drama!
I would rather have my Power Cones [More properly Reversion cones] outside my pipes at the end [look at a Thunderheader] And I have given Lollipops a fair trial...No Thanks...I am keeping a Real Exhaust...
But, Tell me...Does your Dyno guy use anything But WFO???
