Default Turn signal problem

Hey guys I've got a turn signal issue that has me stumped. The bike is a 97 flht. well the bike came to me with old automotive style flashers wired inline for the blinkers. It was a hack job install so I wanted to make it right. Without the flashers installed the blinkers just light up, no flash. I back probed the #4 and 8 terminal on the TSM and I have the momentary power come from hitting the blinker switch but it was coming back out of the TSM as a solid signal instead of pulse. I figure the TSM has to be bad and order a replacement. I install it and I have the exact same results. Turn on the blinker and it lights up solid, no flash. I've went through all the connectors under the fairing and there was a small amount of corrosion in two connectors which I cleaned up and added the contact grease. Any ideas out there? I'm at a loss for where to go from here. Not sure if it would matter but it has LED turn signals on the front and factory on the rear. Thanks for any help

First try standard bulbs front and rear, there may not be enough current draw to activate the TSM. In which case you'll need load equalizers. But try the standard bulbs first.

You could hold your left arm straight out for a left turn and for a right.... just kidding....
I do believe you need that flasher ,same thing factory on my bike, looks like auto style and probably the same. I have upgraded to led (all), still the same flasher but kit came with a transducer to control the speed of flash, only if needed. Neatly wire in a flasher. Not too sure about having both, led and regular signals. I would just try the flasher and note the speed of it...

That was the problem. Hooked up a standard bulb inline and they flashed. Now to find load equalizers.

Not sure if 98 module is any different than 97 but I installed LED on the rears and never had an issue. And my fronts are the 194 peanut bulbs that don't draw a lot of current. I never tried full LED all around so I can't answer for that. One of these days I will. I just can't find a decent pair that I like and is affordable...

I just checked HLSM and the two years have the same module. Don't know what to say now... Lucky me maybe....LOL....

I converted to LEDs all round and discovered the no blink phenomenon first hand! A Badlands load equalizer solved that I'm pleased to report. I believe they also make a combined load equaliser/flasher unit which is worth bearing in mind if the stock H-D flasher packs up.

I just threw this out as something to check FIRST. Glad it worked out.
I've had stock bulbs up front and LED's in back with no problems too. But hey, it all worked out for the OP.
