Default inner primary compatibility

I have a 1990 FXSTS with a cracked inner primary. I've see a few for sale on ebay listed for years 89-93, and a lot for '94 and later. Did the inner primary case change in '94 or would something off a 94 or later model fit my bike? Thanks.

The starter is the main difference and transmission if we are talking early to late

Domino effect...the inner changed because they changed the jackshaft on the starter...the only real difference is the OD around the seals...so now you have to use a 94 up jackshaft...which means you have to use a 94 up clutch hub cause the tooth count is different...I believe you have to use a 94 up outer also...they also changed to compensator in 94 from 24 to 25 teeth...you will need that too.

So if you can find a complete 94 up primary from someone who changed to a belt drive...no problem.
