Default "o"ring

I am doing new head and base gaskets on my 1991 Sturgis and I bought a upper end gasket kit. but it did not come with the pn 26432-76A "O" ring that goes around the head alignment stud. my question is do we still use them? I would have thought they would have been in the box.

I rebuilt my '96 this spring and found the o-ring was no longer used ... if I remember right it was noted with the head gasket kit

THC ask a good question ... what kit are you using? ... I used a Harley kit and it was noted with the head gaskets the o-ring was not used

I am using the harley one. and there was no paperwork in the box. looks like I can proceed without driving that 70 miles to get 4 "o"rings.

What are the gaskets made of??
I have had good luck with the SLS (single layer steel) base gaskets and MLS (multi layer steel) head gaskets.

I'm not a big fan of the OEM Harley gaskets.

Not sure about a gasket set but HD many time shows installation PDFs on their site.

I think the OEM head gaskets looked like automotive head gasket material ... I'm not sure if they were MLS or not ... I discarded the OEM base gaskets and installed James

They were definitely not MLS.
