Default 91 flhs front fairing

So cruising craigslist I found another 1991 FLHS but it has a factory front fairing. Something I have been scouring the internet to find. I contacted the owner of the bike but he is super flakey and doesn't get back to me. Anyone have a lead on this kind of factory front fairing? Where I can buy it? I even offered to buy it off the dude who posted the craigslist add but he just never gets back to me.

I found mine on eBay. Not easy to find but they do pop up every now and then. The inner fairing is even harder to find then the outer it seems.

They are out there but not easy to find. Harley offered them in their accessorie catalog. They were made from heavy ABS and came with the brackets to fit the " toaster" style dash. FWIW, I found one at a local swap meet. The owner was firm at $450. It did sell!!!
I was lucky enough to find one locally on Craigslist.
Your other option is to get a Shovelhead era fairing and fabricate your own brackets.
Best of luck in your search.

Owned my 1990 FLHS from new. The batwing kit was only offered for a short time. It is essentially a shovel batwing with dedicated FLHS mounting brackets. The kit was so expensive IMHO that I used a genuine glassfibre shovel batwing. There are new aftermarket batwings available for later models, which may be suitable. I considered modifying the stock windshield brackets, but having a brother with the right skills we made a fresh set from scratch.

Added blue words.

Thanks for the info guys. So what year shovel batwing do i need to look for? I dont really need an inner fairing I don't think I just want the outer fairing because I like the look of it.

I can probably make/modify brackets for the shovel batwing. I have been looking for one for a while and have had no luck. So it sounds the shovel fairing is the way to go price and availability wise.

Wink

The shovel batwing is a glass-fibre moulding, very stiff and bolts directly onto mounting brackets. Most of them had no inner fairing, although there were add-on mountings for radio etc, for some models. That can be left off if you come across one. This is mine, inside and out, also in my sigpic:

You can see my homemade black mounting brackets in the lower photo.

Were you gonna buy the whole bike or just trying to get him to sell you his fairing?

If I was trying to sell a bike and somebody wanted just a part of it I wouldn't get back to them either.

If you enter 'shovelhead batwing' on US Ebay you should find two genuine fairings for sale, plus what looks like an aftermarket one, also a couple of the radio mountings I mentioned. The fairing on auction #232268656860 looks very good and is complete with excellent hardware, the other one isn't anything like so nice and isn't complete. There is no certainty the mounting brackets will fit your FLHS, but they can probably be adapted.

I didn't even ask to buy the fairing. I already have my FLHS so I was just curious if he was the original owner and any information that he had on the fairing, if he had put it on, etc. He has emailed me and I called him and he is happy to talk about it in the moment but he tells me he will get back to me with info and just never gets back to me.
