Default Fuel injection problem?

I just bought my first bike with EFI, its a 98 Electra. First I had to do was to replace the both fuel lines between the the tank and the EFI (leaking) Now when I started it up it will not run on the front cylinder, totally dead. Can this be related to the fuelinjection? I dismounted the tank and found some valves behind the fuel lines in the tank, a ball with a spring. one of them was leaking badley. Im from Sweden and those small valves cost 80$ each 2-3 weeks delivery. Can this be the reason? I changed the front sparkplug but of cource it was not that easy. Spark is also OK. Looks like it dont get fuel? Please help a Swedish biker

While I am not familiar with your particular fuel injection system, in general, some thoughts:

You need spark, fuel and timing. Are you sure you have spark? That is, pull the plug, lay it on the head with the wire connected, it sparks when you crank it? If so, then, yes, your problem is fuel injection.

I'm not sure what valves behind the fuel lines you are mentioning. There are some online parts diagrams, if you could find one and point it out, that would be helpful.

Is the plug going to the injector for the front cylinder connected? Is the front injector working? You can tell by putting a mechanic's stethoscope on the injector when the bike is running and listening for the clicking. If the injector isn't clicking, you may have damaged a wire when you were swapping out the lines.

Hi from the UK and welcome to HDF. There are several on-line parts websites, including this one, where you can identify the parts you refer to. If you're planning on keeping your bike for any length of time I recommend getting the factory service manual. It includes diagnostic help, plus a whole lot more. There may also be an electrical supplement (not sure about that).

I believe that 98 had the MM injection system.

The valves he is referring to I believe are the slip connectors for the fuel lines.

That system has 2 fuel lines, one pressure and one return. If the pressure line is leaking, you are not developing the pressure to operate the injectors so, yes, those need to be repaired or replaced. I've had luck just replacing the o-ring in the tank side. It is kinda of fiddly but can be done.

Those valves your talking about are just check valves to keep pressure in the fuel lines when shut off so the fuel is delivered quicker and not having to keep priming every time it is started. The system supplies a constant fuel pressure to the plenom and can't see how one cylinder can fire and not the other by a fuel issue. If it ran before the fuel lines and doesn't now, recheck your work before searching for other areas of failure

You had to pull the tank to install the lines, make sure to recheck the wire plug on the front injector located on the plenom, it may have came off, loose or pulled a wire out.

If the rear cylinder fires you are getting fuel out of the tank. The check valves should not leak, but that should not keep the front cylinder from firing. Check the pigtail going to the front injector.
