Default Anyone suffered with speedometer/Speed sensor problems?

I bought a 96 Dyna Convertible for my son. Speedometer would not read speed, but after about a minute, needle jumps to 100 MPH. Put a new sensor on it - no change. Put a known good salvage speedo on ($300!) it worked about ten miles. Then went back to 100 mph. Replaced speed sensor - no change this time. Replaced speedometer (another $300 used part) AND speed sensor, ($75) and it worked 12 miles. Then started 100 MPH again. I have put three speed sensors and three speedometers (new are NOT available) and still do not have a speedometer that works. All related wires have been opened, isolated, identified and checked for shorts, grounds, nicks, etc. Anyone else had a similar issue?

Thank God I have the old mechanical speedometer. All I have to worry about is finding replacements for obsolete speedometer drives.

But where are you going to find that. That is the boat I'm in now. I hear all you can get is a China made speedo that are no good.

You could go Dakota Digital, depending on what model you have. They don't have anything for my bike, but I've used their speedo on my Esprit (RIP).

I bought my last NOS drive on EBay. They turn up there once in a while.

My speedo just died. No warning no bouncing just looked down there was nothing. Looked again ir went up once then nothing. I checked the sensor to clean it and it was clean nothing but tranny oil which wasn't dirty almost translucent. 2001 FLHPI Police
