Default Ignition Coil Help

Hey guys, I have a 1996 Electra Glide Ultra Classic (EFI). The coil is starting to go out on me when the bike gets up to running temp, it will shut down and will not fire again until it cools down. So I ordered a new coil. According to JP Cycles it's the OEM replacement. However, when I removed the old HD original coil they seem different. (original on left/new coil right). I also called Harley and the original coil is an obsolete part, so it is unavailable.

The original coil has a plug on the left side and the new one has 2 posts that look like wires go to it. I am assuming I cut the stock plug/connector off and crimp on terminals to the 3 wires for the 2 posts. But I have no idea which wires go to where. The plug had 3 wires. (pic of wires)

I havnt been able to find a coil wiring diagram showing the same colors as my bike. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First that new coil looks like a stock dual fire coil.
What are the part numbers for both??

From your symptoms I would look at the cam position sensor before I would look at the coil for the problem.

Is your cam position sensor (AKA ignition pick up located in cam chest) leaking any goo???

The HD part I pulled off has no part numbers on it and HD dealer said that part is obsolete.

Here is what I ordered from JP Cycles http://www.jpcycles.com/product/380-086 Says it's a direct OEM replacement for my bike (96 Electra GLide Ultra Classic EFI FLHTCUI).

NO goo, or oil or anything coming from the cam chest, a friend of mine seems to feel very strongly it's the coil so that is where I started.

Don't cut anything. That is the wrong coil...I agree with texas, dig a little deeper into your problem and if you need to, get the correct replacement coil.

Ordered the correct replacement. Will update if problem continues after I install it.

I got the correct coil from Direct Cycle Parts on Friday afternoon. Got it on and everything back together, no issues since. Thanks for the help!
