I recently bought my first Harley, a 1993 flhs. The bike has a solo Corbin seat on it, I'm trying to put the stock 2 up seat on. the rear mounting tab on the seat sits about 1 1/2" above the fender, and there's no support at all for the seat forward of the fender. From what I've been able to find on the internet (which is very little), it looks like the rear tab originally mounted to the stock luggage rack which I don't have, and something to do with the stock hand rails which I also don't have. What do I have to do to mount this seat?
Congrats on your recent purchase. Welcome! A service manual and a parts catalog for that year and model will prove priceless. I don't have the link, but RonniesHD has micro fiche online. You may be able locate part numbers to aid in your search. Pics please!
There is no positive attachment to the handrails. The front of the seat hooks under a metal tab coming off the tank and the rear is secured by means of a single bolt that threads into the luggage rack. I am not sure if the seat rests against the handrail, but i would imagine that you could shim it if you cant find one.
If it mounts the same as my '90, here are a couple of shots:
The front of the seat slides into this tab on the tank:
This is the bracket. It bolts to the fender, and to the luggage rack in the back (yellow). The seat itself bolts through the two green holes in the bracket:
Many thanks Omaha for the pictures! That clears things up a lot. I've seen aftermarket seat brackets on JP cycles, etc., but didn't know how it all goes together. Now if I can find a luggage rack, I'll be in business! Then MAYBE I get the wife out......
Interesting. On my 94, the seat does not mount to the green holes shown above. The only screw for the seat goes into a hole where 0maha has a yellow circle. The handles arent mounted there on mine. I dont have the bike with me, but i can take some photos next week when I do.
