So i'm getting read to bolt up my SE heads on my 98 evo. Can i use stock pushrods with a 30 thousand head gasket? I dont want to run adjustables anymore. I have a set of taper lites in there now but bought new solids from harley. can i assume there is no difference in height of the SE and stock heads?

Man I would make sure that you know everything possible about those heads. In my own experience, the SE heads are decked terribly which makes it hard to use stock push rods. If the pushrods that you bought from Harley are the "Perfect Fit" for your particular combination, then I would trust it with a stock thickness head gasket. You change the the thickness, you change the math. Just curious, why don't you want o use the adjustable's anymore?
Just thought I'd rather go back to solid rods. Eliminate one possible problem if one ever loosened up. the rods i bought were stock size. The thinner head gasket it 15 thousands less. "IF" the heads are identical in height? That would put me 115 thousands into the lifter. Can anyone tell me if the SE & stock heads sit at the same height?
If solids work in mine with 20 thou head gaskets and 10 thou base gaskets I'll bet they work just fine in yours with the SE heads and 30 thou head gaskets. JMO

Did you get the instruction paper with your heads? I will look at mine and see if they can answer your question.

Mr Beernervet, Low and behold there was a factory instruction paper under the cardboard. Nothing in the instructions about pushrods. Instructions say dismantle per FSM and install per SFM with lots of other instructions about high lift cams and valve clearence and the like. So I'm think stock pushrods are Ok.
