If your speedometer lights up then you have 12v on the orange wire and the ground is good. If you unplug the speed sensor, check for voltage at the red wire coming out of the speedometer (12v) as the trans turns the hall effect speed sensor pulses 12v back to the speedo which will under normal conditions drive the mph needle. If you don't have the 12v from the speedo and the odometer is not lighting up I would say the speedo itself is no good and it is not sending voltage on the green wire back to the turn signal module to cancel the turn signals.. Sounds like it's time for a new Speedo...

Default Speedo Replacement Options

Thank You IM & 98HOTRODFATBOY for your replys. Both have been helpfu. What I have found is that I have now power coming from the speedo on the red wire doing to the pick up sensor. If I uderstand your reply correctly 98HOTRODFATBOY I'm in need of a new speedometer, is that correct? With that said It appears I will need a wiring harness adapter of some sort to connect the newer style(plug on the back as opposed to all the seperate wire connections) speedo to my 98' FLHRCI. Any reccomendations on that adapter harness? It looks like J&P Cycles sells one as well as V-Twin and I"m sure there are others that I'm not aware of. Next question: what all year speedometers will work as an upgrade? I'm guessing 99'-04' or will an 04'-08' work?? Or will any year up untill the introduction of the BCM work? Thank You forYour Help!!

Consider placing your question in a new thread as to avoid someone from confusing response with super glide.
Title it something like: 1998 road king speedometer not working.
Make sure to add exact symptoms of what is working and what is not working in list format to make it easier to read.
Also include what tests have been conducted.

No, I believe 99 up used a totally different wiring harness. If you can't find a good used one on eBay then you'll have to go after market.
