Anyone know if the speed sensor from a Road King will drop into the Electraglide trans?

The sending unit is the same, but unless your trans case is set up to accept it, it won't matter.

I misread your earlier post. Figured if you don't have a gear drive up front you must have an electronic unit on the trans. If you don't have either, I'm with flhchaz. I think the simplest route forward is a bar mounted mechanical speedo and a gear drive on the front wheel.

Front wheel gear drive for speedometer, single pod speedo from a Sportster off the Bay. I just do not know if the gear ratios would be correct, but I would assume yes. Probably cheapest option, does your front wheel/rotor have the notch for the speedo gear? Is an old one in there now working as a wheel spacer?

No speedo drive on the front wheel. The wheel is an after market, 21" twisted spoke, so not sure about the notch. I'll have to look, but I'm doubtful.

The reason I ask about the sensor is because the trans housing part number is the same for the both the 94 Electraglide and 94 Road King.

No notch. Just checked. Thinking about GPS and a pod.

I dealt with this years back with my 1978 FXS speedometer driven off the front tire when I changed from a narrow glide front with a 19" tire to a wide glide front with a 21" tire. If I remember right I used a 2260:60 drive ratio speedo to have it calibrated right and if I remember right ,front tire speedo drive was a 2:1 for 19" and the tranny drive was a 1:1, so you'll have to make sure you get the right ratio speedo, but Im pretty sure I used a 2260:60 for a 21" tire

The part number is the same, but it's not like the part is available anymore, new. But you're right, the Electraglide case is not drilled and bored. I wonder if a guy could drill the sensor bore and bolt hole. If you had the sensor, maybe a jig could be made.

I just wonder if there is a tone ring in your transmission for the sensor to read or does it just read off the gear? I don't know? I know with the old style gear driven speedo transmissions, if you had a transmission non speedo they had a plug for the speedo drive but no matching gear for it in the transmission

I think it would be easier for you to find a way to secure the tab on your rim for a wheel driven speedo, maybe make a slot or notch rotor or you could run it off your rear tire

I believe the sensor is just a hall effect sensor that gets it's pulses from 4th gear.

You're probably right. The problem is the 21 inch wheel. I'll have to check on a gear drive.
