Speedometer options/opinions/thoughts
So I have a FLHTP that had been in an accident at one time and eventually got a Road King front clip. So, since the tank is Electraglide, there is no speedometer. Not wanting to spend big bucks on a RK tank and dash, I would like some suggestions on what and where to mount one. There is also no gear drive on the front axle, so if I were to go the mechanical route, I'd need to get that as well.
What is year of bike?
What is budget?
Basically what are actual needs and wants.
For low budget:
If you already own an automotive GPS...Perhaps a GPS attached to bar with inexpensive (under $20 USA dollar clamp)
Some mounts are water resistant.
Several Garmin automotive GPS have a button that you can scroll and leave device on MPH & distance.
Most times the MPH readout is many times larger than a speedometer and it will have an odometer function.
Plus you have advantage of GPS information if needed.
For low budget if you do not own an automotive GPS:
Review online for "GPS speedometer".
Several small units available at different price points.
Some are really small boxes while others look like regular speedometers.
Keep in mind that a GPS link requires view of satellites in sky so they will not work in tunnels or garages.
They will also require satellite connection time..
Most times that connection time is quick but it takes longer to connect if you do not ride for several weeks at a time or if you trailer bike and it wakes up in another area.

I have GPS speedos in 2 of my sand rails. They work great, and they look like mechanical, analog type speedos. Both are water proof, but they are deep and would require a huge gauge pod. I've thought about digital GPS units, just hate the idea of something that new on my old school bike.

I was thinking about a Sportster gauge, but don't know about the drive.
