I'm swapping the innards of a 5-speed transmission from a 96 Road King, to a Heritage softail. Bought a new case, but there's a bushing for the selector shaft going through the case that is about 26 mm in length and has an inside diameter of about 11.5 mm. The new case does not have the bushing and apparently Harley doesn't sell it as a separate part. Don't suppose anyone knows if the bushings for the shifter shaft will work as the bushing for the selector shaft?
are you talking about the bushing for the shifter shaft that goes threw the case? I just changed mine with this https://www.ebay.com/itm/V-Twin-17-9...72.m2749.l2649, it came with like five bushings, and it is the correct bushing for the selector shaft
Maybe the company that makes this also makes one for your Evo. I've been trying to figure out if this 'seal' is the same thing as the bushing people talk about on here. Anyway the company is James and these seem to be available all over the place wherever the usual aftermarket parts are sold.
And the shaft, whether you call it a selector or a shifter shaft, is the part that goes through the transmission case. But there is a bushing in the case, before the oil seal, and that is what I'm looking for.
