You do your homework and you'll find that from 93 - 08 , parts for the most part to 08 fit the older bikes. Last two digits in HD part numbers are not a " won't fit " scenario.

Working on it is going to be a honest statement but rewarding, as V Twin mentioned many years parts will work if doing research.

Been fortunate on the 97, cleve blocks are still solid, getting a good set of shocks on the rear of old bikes is worth it because even the air ride are a slush ride promoting tail wag.

Twisted mentioned something with hidden values is previous owner/owners repair work, just built a FLT Shovel. Pulling down items revealed the PO's should not of been working on a bike, knew some of the work was needed but upon tear down was a WTF moment. It's also known for novice electrical diagnosing owners to destroy wiring on the older bikes needing redone.
