Any thoughts here? Bike runs great idles fine, then out of the blue, shakes more than normal at idle.Has a new Harley front motor mount. Before tearing into the primary just wondering if any others have this issue. Thanks in advance.Bike has an ev13, ultima ign. single fire, and 10:1 pistons.
From the OP: (emphasis mine) "....then out of the blue, shakes more than normal at idle.Has a new Harley front motor mount."
I believe you answered your own question. I've changed front motor mounts on my '85 FXRS a few times over the years. New ( out of the blue) vibrations after replacing a motor mount are usually an indication that the new mount is a different product than what I had been using ( the motor company has changed the material in those front mounts several times over the years. There's a lot of discussion on that topic on this forum and others) OR...the install simply wasn't done well. If everything is aligned properly after putting the new mount in place the center bolt should be "loose" in the hole before it's torqued down. A lot of folks recommend running the bike around the block after putting everything in place, but before tightening it all down.
Hope this helps.
Thanks guys, it’s just weird that sometimes it feels fine, then shakes more like something is imbalanced.Having had the bike since ‘94 don’t remember it being this bad.Replaced the front mount and rechecked the alignment after noticing this issue.I’ll try re fitting the mount and see if that helps.
