Jackshaft alignment
I see from service manual there is specs on chain alignment. How about the gear alignment from jackshaft to main gear. I dont see anything on that. If its in then its good?
Or maybe enlightenment is what I need. To understand exactly how this works. The starter shaft when I press the start button must cause the jachshaft to push out and engage the Sprocket on the clutch which then turns the crankshaft by the primary chain. It just do not get how they mesh together properly There would seem to be some alignment necessary for the teeth of each Sprocket to fit together.
There is no way to adjust the alignment, as long as the parts are assembled correctly the pinion gear will mesh right into the ring gear.
When you press the start button, the solenoid pushes the pinion gear out, engaging the ring gear (the bevels on the gears ensure that the gears mesh).
The starter motor does not get power from the solenoid until after the gears have meshed.
