Anyway, the mechanic I have has agreed to let me "help" (or hinder as the case may be) doing the Air Cleaner and Exhaust; as such, we will be doing that out of business hours on Saturday morning in two weeks time..
You guys can knock it all out in about 5 hours tops. Cut the old pushrods out, pull the tappet blocks w/tappets, pull the cover and swap out cam and cam bearing and re-assemble.
Yes there is too much on the internet that the EV27 is the best cam ever!! for any evo bike!!, not true, the EV27 is a good cam for light bikes, Hotrod is right on with the EV13 for your bike

Griz
That is what I was led to believe as well, 4 - 5 hours for the cam and about an hour - hour and a half for the other stuff.

Thanks and yeah - it does seem as though the focus is on the EV27. The reason I went with the 27 was (figuratively speaking) 8/10 people voted for it so I figured it had to be the best. I still have the option of swapping my 27 for Jim's (?) 13 so I might just do that ........
Now, if anyone knows how to do all this stuff, really knows what they are doing, and is close and has a bearing puller thingy - lets get together, have a beer and do some work

You can "borrow" a blind puller from lots of auto parts places. Usually in a kit with various sizes. I bought mine as I do work on/build my motors. Your new mechanic may have one already.
Ebay one I saw was under $40, but call around first.
You'd hope a mechanic that was going to work on the bike would have the tools needed to work on them
Just had a look for blind puller's and they are as cheap as dirt ... what I was previously looking at were EVO Pullers from places like Dennis Kirk and J&P Cycles and similar, pullers specific for an EVO instead of generic (if you will) pullers.
