My 97 FLSTC wind shield is badly fogged and no matter what I have tried I cannot get it back to being clear again. As such, my only option seems to be to replace the screen with a new clear one.

With the exception of Harley Davidson and Memphis Shaded, can someone please suggest a company where I can buy a "made to fit" without any additional bits and pieces, clear wind screen.

I have looked at National Cycle but no nothing about them.

 

Also, what are peoples opinions on "tinted wind shields" ? Good, bad or indifferent? The Pro's and Con's of them if you will.

 

I used the Harley brand swirl an scratch remover on my windshield with great results.

Just a thought. I would suspect that if the product is labeled "Harley Davidson" it will surely be more expensive.

I have had excellent results with Novus Plastic Polish. There are three grades. It;s about 6 bucks a bottle on Amazon

 

Couldn't agree more and I bought the Novus Plastic Polish No's 2 and 3. It polished the clear parts of the screen, and did a great job, but didn't remove the "film" that is on parts of the screen. I'll have to try to get a photo of the problem ...

 

I've had tremendous results restoring windshields using Novus or 3M plastic cleaners and polishes. The plexiglass will have a coating on it that breaks down over time. If it more than that - has scuffs and scratches, those are harder to buff out. Start by cleaning the windshield with some soapy detergent, I use Dawn, followed by wet rubbing with a clay bar. After completing, use the plastic cleaner on a sponge disk and drill keeping the surface wet with the compound and the drill speed slow going over it a few times. Buff it off then do the same with the plastic polish. Avoid the temptation to use a faster speed, it will create heat and can damage the plastic. You could also use the headlight restoration compounds as well.

You might have to work the film with a slightly more aggressive compound, I've used Meguires fine liquid polishing compound for tough spots, take your time and go slow, increase the speed very slowly if needed.

 

Just replaced my 98 Ultra windshield with a Reaper recurve from Long Ride Shields. Opted for the acrylic with light tint. Very pleased and good customer service. Ken

 

I just recently replaced my 2016 Heritage 18" windshield with a National Cycle 21" and can tell you that they say its an exact fit but don't be fooled. You have to buy a bracket kit and then you only use the bolts out of it because in my case the bracket for the turn signal lights are connected to the bracket that holds the OEM windshield. I had to modify it by drilling a 3rd hole into the existing bracket to fit the new windshield bracket. Not happy with them saying exact fit when its not but in the end it looks good. Happy with the quality itself of the windshield.
