Default Saddlebags install

I am looking to Install a set of saddlebags on a 95 fatboy. My 95-96 FSM only shows a breakdown for the heritage. My brackets are the 'U' shape that mount to the fender strut. Can someone please send me a diagram of the order the nuts, bolts and washers . There is a gap between the fender and the strut. I would guess that maybe a nylon washer would go there? Thank you for your help.

This bracket appears to fit, however, it pushes the bottom of the bag too far out from the bike. This is causing the bag to bend or crease just under the mounting bolts

It's hard to tell from the pictures, but can those brackets be bent a little to get the bottom of them closer to the bike to allow the bags to hang more straight down?

Not to stir the pot........

Take a look at these:

http://www.harley-performance.com/ghost-brackets.html

I had them on my softail 20 some-odd years ago, and liked them. Mainly because I didn't alway ride distances where I didn't need storage, so most of the time the bags came off easily

Just an idea......

Not sure if I clamp the bracket down and bend it- if the chrome would start chipping off. Maybe a small price to pay to make the bag fit properly. Thank you. The ghost brackets sounds like a good option for sure
