A couple years ago I put some Softail Deuce triple trees on my Fatboy and went two inch over on the front end.. It ended up producing the trail till like 4.7 in and I believe that that was one of the bigger issues to my wobble at 100 mph..
So today I got my old FL trees out and shaved lower because I still want to run Softail standard tubes and sliders.. It's a little cut and grinding filing sanding It came out halfway decent and I just dropped them off at the powder coater We'll see how it turns out.. getting the trail back up to 6.0 I'm sure will help increase stability at speed.. Plus it should really look good in a satin black to match the rims but chrome sliders and bars might be pretty cool... We'll see..
Here's a couple of pics of the process and the final before powder coat..
A little update, No I didn't get the tree's back yet but I was attending to a fork leak that I had that was coming out the top slider tube plug o-ring and While I was at it I decided to replace the slider plug with the 2" extensions I had on the shelf.. Looks real good but the greatest benefit was trail is now very close to stock (now 5.73 and stock is 6.0) but more importantly the wobble has been dramatically decreased.. Can't wait to put the Shaved stock triple trees on to increase the trail even more. Hoping the wobble will be gone...
