Default Chinese D2K.

Evening all.
I fitted a cheap chinese Dyna 2000 ignition in June last year, the bloody thing has performed like a dream.
I have put close to 3000kms on the bike with no problems.....
She even kicks starts easier than with the points fitted.

I have one sitting in a cabinet still in the box. Bought it because it was cheap and could use as a spare if ever needed.

I have trust issues, especially with Chinesium electronics. They work till they don't, but I suppose that could be with anything.

Same here. I’ve bought some knock offs that seem to work ok and others that fell apart within hours.
Bolt on parts are one thing but electronics are another.

If your talking about the Ultima it's been around for along time and has proven itself, been running them for 15 plus years. The non running Shovel I purchased had a new Ultima in it, the last 3 years has been solid also, coils are garbage tho.

They were talking about the no-name $50 units that look similar to a 53-644 or D2ki but without the face decal and the finish is very rough.

I have tried that one and IIRC it did it's job. I did not use it long term and is now a test tool..

Yes, my reply was in reference to the one T150vej posted.

I have the Ultima unit programmed with the Dynatek 2000 stock advance curve #2. It has worked flawlessly for me for a good 4 or more years.

Comparing the Ultima to the cheaper knock off and you can see obvious manufacturing differences in appearance only as I never have actually installed the cheapy on my bike. It just looks to be lesser in quality. I need to see if it is programmable like the ultima/dynatek. Will give that a try this spring.

I have never seen any info on what type of advance curve or curves it has preloaded from the factory.

I have my cheap unit set at curve 2 as per the Dyna ignition, and yes mine is the chinese knock off.
I have had Dyna units fail within 6 months and advance/retard units self destruct when running points, and mine was the expensive U.S unit not a cheap one.
Not trying to say this is the best thing money can buy...but at the moment it's working great, still keep my points setup in the tool roll just in case.

I have one of these in my Shovel, build quality way better than the pics on AliExpress and works very well indeed so far.
