Not true. Tap the rivet holes in the plate to 10-32 thread and secure the outer cover with machine screws.

Just went through this yesterday on a '99 to remove a LTR cover plate...

Drilled-out the rivets to remove the LTR plate. Unscrewed the cover-plate that it was riveted to.

Added a points-cover gasket, did not reinstall the cover-plate and mounted a new cover using same screw-holes that held the original cover-plate.

Bummer I'm getting page not found, think the forum god may have been cleaning house again. I've had a couple of the rotors lose a magnet with these but they all have been the newer versions.

Link wouldn't work but soon as pasted again it did. ?? If this link doesn't work, copy and paste the plain text. Anyway, it was from 2020 guy in PA. said he lost 2 back to back, They were on a dual fire unit.

Worked that time thank's, this issue arose when they went with the composite rotor, frankenbike I picked up last oct. one of the magnets was half out. I have several of the old style aluminium rotors still, never had an issues with those.

Think the heat hits the material they are using in the composite more aggressively than the engineers planned on and breaks the epoxy bond. Or the bean counters got the fingers in the game.
