I've heard up to 200,000 miles easy as long as the compression is stock 8.5 to 1.

I'm not sure about the milage but I've never seen one make it to 20 years. What year did you say your bike was again.

Thanks guys for the replys

The reason i ask how long they might last is I pulled the cam out to day and found that i could move the Pinion Shaft up and down. I would think that there should not be no side ways movment play. The bike is a 1989 FLHTC with 88K miles on it, i'm betting the bike has more miles on it than what's showing..
I've only had the bike 3 years this Feb, but i don't know how other people treated it befor i got it.
Here is a pic of the cam, looks wore bad..

I think if it were mine I would be going in a little deeper, the gear on your cam looks awful worn. I dont think you should have up and down play in your in your crank. I'm not an expert though. Good Luck

Its time for a new bottom end or purchase a new evo motor from HD Cost about 3000 dollars or go S&S about 5000 dollars

Thanks Sqdealgeorge, that's what i wan't to do, BUT i need to know if the 99 evo crate will fit in the frame of my 89 bagger... (rubber mounted).
I went to the Harley dealer this past saturday, they had a 99 evo crate there, ($3,595)," Silver & Polished"

I ask them if it will fit into my 89 flhtc's frame and they said they didn't know and would have to call the Harley Factory on monday to ask them if it would or not, dam what kind of dealer ship is that, that don't know about what they sell..
