Unhappy Only ANSWERS to a 1985 HEIHIN CARBURETOR Problems

Hey Guys ( Still A Newbie )

I have a 1985 Keihin Carb.
Bought a rebuild kit and I'm not satified with my performance in doing the rebuild

I was working on the bike as its on a engine lift.
So I couldn't really get under the carb and replace
all the parts that came with the carb rebuild kit

I really want to get the carburetor out of the bike;
but to tell you guys the truth ~ I'M LEARY need your
help and if I need any SPECIAL CARB TOOLS to do the job correctly.

From what I see I really can't get at those HEX BOLTS
(DON'T KNOW IF THEIR METRIC or STANDARD) See what I mean about being LEARY.

I want to get that carb in my hands and take it apart
with your help. I have my original service manual but
I still need your hands on experiences to show me just
HOW 2's

I await you help guys. What a pain in the butt I am,
butt what are goin' do with a Newbie anyway(s)

From what I can see about those two (2) HEX BOLTS; they're very hard to get at. Need to disassemble the horn on the other side ( you tell me )

What size are those (2) Hex Bolts and if its a standard size I don't know if I can get 'em out with a regular Allen Wrench ?

You tell guys if any of you have ever taken out a
1985 FLT HEIHIN CARB

I use a 6" wobble extension and a socket to get mine off I think it's a 7/16" but it's been a while. It's not metric. easy peasy. The carb isn't too difficult to rebuild, replace all the rubber parts clean the jets with carb cleaner and bolt it back on. Search the internet for articles on tuning the Keihin butterfly carb, Google is your friend here...

Default I Got Your Suggestions ~ However ?

Hey Woodnbow

I'll buy the wobble extension or the set. However, the
bolt is a HEX bolt.
So what do I connect the wobble extension too. What the tool do I attach the wobble to ?

In order to get those two HEX BOLTS OUT.

Tell me do I have to detach the horn on the other side
of my bike in order to get that wobble extension in there ? Sure am not looking forward to doing that; But if I have too so be it.

Thanks for helping me out on the wobble entension 6"
I guess I need a HEX CUP TO ATTACH TO THE WOBBLE

Angry Sometimes I Wonder About Me With Measurements

Hey Bro. Woodnbow

I got the 6in. extension part.
But here comes the stupid question please.

What did you mean about; 7/16th is the Hex head that fits into the wobble extension to get those 2 Hex bolt out that hold me carb in place ?

Its got a HEX HEAD on the cup YES/NO ?
So If you don't remember that's O.K. about the size
I can buy a couple of other sizes along with the 7/16th also.

What other size HEX Cups do you recomemd ?

Thanks my good man

Took those (2)two pics at night so bear along with me.
Just to give you an idea of the space I'll have to get into. In middle picture No.2 which was taken from the left side of my bike. You can see BLACK BELL BRACE VERTICALLY IS IN THE WAY.And the No.3 picture is a shot of the bottom hex bolt. Hope I can get to it. Gues that's were the WOBBLE EXTENSION come in.

O.K. guys as allways i'm in your hands

Hey Guys ( Stil Live Newbie)

Got to get these two; ALLEN HEX BOLT,SCREW that holds me '85 Heihin Carburetor in place.

Need to rebuild my carb.

Take a look please and tell me for sure what size so I can go out and buy
a wobble extension along with the HEX BIT SOCKET SET.

I figure I buy a 1/2" Wobble Extension to fit the Hex Socket ~ What do you think about that idea ?

Nortern tool is the friend of all occaisional mechanics. They have most of the tools you will need to fix your bike. They aren't the same quality as Snap-on, but you won't be wrenching 24/7. Hope this helps.

1/4" allen. buy a whole set then you have them. if i remember right you need to take the horn and choke cable bracket off. that makes it easier.

Dude.............Take the carb off of the manifold & get it out of your way. Those hex bolts are for your manifold, not your carb. The carb is held to the manifold similar to a rad hose on a rad.
Does this make sense to you?
