dash question

Default dash question

Hi was wondering if someone can answer this.I can get a one piece dash cheap it it says it will fit 84 -90 softail.I have a 92 softail mechanical speedo and i am wondering what changed from 90 -92?thanks

i tried but the pics are the same.I think the only difference is 92 has self canceling turn signals and 84-90 doesnt.So i am thinking the dash wont have cutout for turn signal indicators.Posted a question to J P cycle but they cant seem to answer it

Hmm, I didn't think there was any difference. I do remember them asking if it was self canceling. But as far as the dash goes, it shouldn't matter, thought they all bolted up the same....

This is the one I bought from them:

Here's the info listed:


Note: 2240:60 ratio speedometer with self cancelling turn signals may only be installed in conjunction with 1991-95 cast dash or equivalent to accommodate the odometer reset ****.

How to choose the right Speedometer Ratio (for stock application only)
[*]1:1 Ratio: Fits 1962-80 4-speed FL, 1980-83 FXWG & 1971-72 FX models with transmission-driven speedometers.[*]2:1 Ratio: Fits 1947-61 4-speed FL and 1952-71 Sportster® models with transmission-driven speedometers, 1973-95 Sportster®, FX and FXR with front wheel speedometer drives (for 19 inch wheel applications).[*]2240:60 ratio: Fits all 1984-90 Softail® and 4-speed FXWG, and 1981-84 4-speed FL with front wheel speedometer drives (for 16 and 21 inch wheel applications).

Note: May also be used in conjunction with 1991-95 speedometers with reed switch for self canceling turn signals (if specified).

Note: 1996-2007 are electronic speedo.

Note: Will not fit FXDWG.

that what i dont understand they have a seperatepart numberfor the one peice dash one for 84-90 and different part number for 91-95 i cant see why it would make a difference for the dash.

unless 84-90 dosent have a hole for odometer **** which i can make a hole.Be nice if JP could answer a question

You know something, that might just be it. It may not be a difference at all as far as fit goes.
