Default flhs reverse trees

have a question about those "reverse" trees found on older FL's. Does anyone know if I can just get a new set of trees and put the forks ahead of the steering post on my 92 FLHS ? What about fork stops ...handling...is it safe ? Thanks ...need advice...Mike

Today's FLH's are "reverse" trees with the forks behind the post, aren't they?

Default Ya, You can do it

Want to know more about it, all you have to do is search HERE The most important thing is Steering Stem Offset which controls your trail. Too little & you have a shopping cart and too much and you have a sluggish sled like you already have. I only use this type for the improved responsive handling but the rake is reduced so it does not look raked out (stock around 32* [26* neck + 4.5* but the forks are also behind the steering stem]) in comparison to more vertical 26*.

There is no comparison in ride between the two.

Those trees are the key to easy handling on FL's. I've seen guys put standard trees on a few, they look really odd as they stick out too far. Probably similiar rake and trail (except for the 16' wheel) as an FXR.

Thanks for the advice....it's just that the bike's previous owner had "Frankensteined"it with wrong headlight housing....won't fit....aftermarket junk etc. Was just an idea, but when I think about it, you're right.....probably have to find original HD parts . Mike

They are easy to find on Ebay for example.Your bike would look whacked out with anything other than stock unless you redo the frame.
