Default Carb troubles

I tried posting this in the carb help section but not getting any response.

I have found a leak on my carb and need suggestions on what it might be. When I turn the throttle, even with the motor off and fuel off it seeps out of this spot here. I am assuming there must be an o ring or two that the fuel is getting by.

I have never ventured into this type of carb and am wondering if this is something I should tackle or take it to an indy. Thanks in advance.

A simple rebuild should do the trick, not difficult if you're familiar with carbs. Shouldn't be more than an hour of labor if that's all it is.

agree. the accelerator diaphragm is cracked and therefore the gas is getting to the other side and traveling up the rod, im guessint thats where your talking about it leaking, where the arrow is pointing. the gas is suppose to stay on the underside of the diaphragm and be pushed into the carb. you can just buy the accelerator pump and replace it without having to remove the carb. it pretty easy to do, i believe its only 2 or 3 screws on the bottom of it holding it on. mine failed on me and i took the whole carb ooff and rebuilt it, really a waiste of money and time when all it was the acc. pump that failed. the S&S carb is really a pretty easy carb to work on.

I did not think this was an S&S carb.

But looking at the Mikuni web site I cannot find a pic that looks like this. Can anyone tel me which carb this is or do I need to get another pic up?

An S&S Super E (not the old style Supers) has an accelerator pump that looks about the same in about the same place. You can take it apart with a #1 (if I recall) screwdriver without taking the carb off. That's what I would do if I was you. Don't ride it leaking gas like that. You should be able to get a new diaphram at any aftermarket place. I haven't been to Temple in a LONG time, but the shops in Bryan will have what you need.
