I ran one for years with good results except poor fuel mileage. The factory "compliance" fittings (rubber elbows that bolt to the head) are bad to crack and leak, though replacements seem to hold up rather well. A bad accelerator pump will cause the mentioned symptoms. So if it starts and idles well, I'd vote for a new pump. If it pops and spits when starting, suspect the compliance fittings.
