She's looking proud. Is that the year the batwing quick detaches giving a diiferent look?
i don't know, all i know it's about a 3 hour job to take it off and put it back on. i have the full gauge kit and radio on it. if that wasn't there it would be easy for on an off. the fairing was all there was when i bought it, just like a shovel fairing.
I didn't know that Evo's came with the Ham Can air cleaner. First time I've seen that.
I had an '84 FXRT EVO with the Ham can air cleaner on it. First thing I did was change it out to the round style. '84-'85 Harley did some weird things....like they were trying to use leftover Shovelhead parts experimenting with the new EVO.

Sounds like a reasonable explanation.
I distinctly remember my 1985 FXST that I bought brand spanking new from the dealer had the newer round air cleaner on it. Why did I ever sell that bike?
Love the older bikes! Yours looks real Good. +1 on being a proud owner when she's all cleaned and ready to roll.
Glad they got "it" all together by '86 ... lol
i bought the 85 new in the spring of 85, when i saw the white and gold with the red pinstripes in 86 i almost went for the 86 but i didn't. i was really tempted.
